Please read the Commencement web site in its entirety for detailed information, but here are some key points:
UMBC’s 2017 Spring Graduate School Commencement will be held Wednesday, May 24 at 10 a.m., in the Retriever Activities Center (RAC) Arena. Commencement procession begins promptly at 9:50 a.m. In observance of the National Anthem, guests will not be seated while the anthem is performed. When the doors reopen following the singing of the National Anthem, guests will be seated as space permits.
For guests with special needs, such as hearing or mobility impairments, please see Grad-School-Special-Accommodations-Form-May-2017 for Guests.
All graduates participating in the Commencement ceremony MUST wear the academic regalia that can only be ordered from the UMBC Bookstore Graduation Center. Candidates are prohibited from wearing a borrowed cap or gown from an alumnus/a or another student – no exceptions.
Online ordering of regalia opens on March 1 at www.herffjones.com/umbc, the last day to order online is March 14. You may also order in person at the Bookstore Graduation Center on Monday, February 27, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m., and Tuesday, February 28 and Wednesday, March 1, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. On March 11, a $25 expedited shipping fee will be applied in order to assure timely delivery of regalia. Even if you are unsure of your participation, place the order to avoid the late fee and to assure delivery. You may return the regalia if you are unable to participate.
All forms of payment usually accepted in the Bookstore are allowed.
The Bookstore will not be responsible for regalia unclaimed by Tuesday, May 16, the last day of classes.
